Project Overview
Pet adoption app, without a defined personal brand, that had overloaded feature set(search filters, messaging, scheduling, intake forms, education modules, admin analytics); inconsistent shelter data quality; poor design; poor mobile responsiveness and accessibility; confusing navigation and information architecture.
Research Goals
The proposed “Pawer” aims to create a user-friendly digital platform that connects animal shelters, rescue centers, and potential adopters. This system would allow users to browse profiles of adoptable animals, filter by breed, age, or location, and directly interact with shelters through secure messaging or scheduling tools. The app can also include educational features such as pet care tips, vaccination reminders, and adoption guidelines to promote responsible ownership.
Scope of Work
- Website design and development
- UX/UI optimization

Challange
How might we design a single pet adoption platform, with fast data entry, that feels simple and powerful, without sacrificing simplicity for one group to add features for another?
Personas And Empathy Maps
At the begginning, to better understand the project's audience, I made universal personas and their empathy maps. The frustrations (such as "Poor Mobile Design," "Confusing Navigation," "Overloaded Feature Set") suggest that previous attempts at the product might have been built based on what the team thought was cool, rather than what users need, so my biggest role was to start designing for Sara (who is easily overwhelmed on mobile), David (who hates complex software), and Maria(who needs data dashboards).
- Sara wants a simple, "frugal" browsing experience.
- David wants to upload a pet in "under 2 minutes."
- Maria wants "analytics access" and reporting.
